If you are looking for a reason to slow down, unplug and relax, there's nothing more satisfying than making the time to enjoy a cup of tea.
The art of making a 'proper cup of tea' that would make any English afternoon tea aficionado proud, possesses two constants. The first is to use water that is boiled only once and, second, use a teapot that allows the tea leaves to swirl freely around the pot, which releases the flavor and, ultimately, provides a rich, full-flavored and less bitter tea.
While we can't be there to boil the water for you, we can provide you with the 'proper' teapot, the Price & Kensington 'Brown Betty' Rockingham 6-Cup teapot.
Designed in England and based on the 17th century "Brown Betty" design, this teapot is ideal for tea drinkers who want a great quality, everyday teapot that will perfectly complement their kitchen for years to come.
An English classic which reached the height of popularity at Queen Victoria's court, the original Brown Betty teapot was created in Stoke-on-Trent, the heart of British potteries in the 1800s.
Locally-quarried red clay was used for its affordable and durable qualities. The clay was also well known for retaining heat, which was perfect for teapots.
Designed during the era of loose tea, the bulbous, round shape referred to as "Betty", infuses the perfect beverage by allowing the tea leaves to swirl the leaves when you poured water into the pot, releasing the flavor. The glaze is “Manganese Brown”, which was developed by the Marquis of Rockingham.
The shape and the name were eventually shortened to the affectionate term ‘Brown Betty’. The design of its spout, carefully-crafted to eliminate any drips, remains part of its iconic style today.
Measuring 5.5"H x 6"W x 9"L, the Price & Kensington 'Brown Betty' Rockingham 6-Cup teapot is made of fine stoneware with the classic Rockingham glaze and is both dishwasher and microwave safe. Iconic and timeless, this Price & Kensington's teapot features a no-drip spout which makes if perfect for everyday use.
